Converted an old OMC peach harvester to be one of the first side mount shakers to operate in almonds.

Golden Valley Harvesting Established

We operated out of our garage on Blue Gum Avenue, building some of our first equipment and maintaining our existing harvesting fleet.

First Self-Unloading Cart

In 1968, J.J. Flora went to work for B.E. Lynch and Sons as a sophomore in high school harvesting almonds in the local community. He built the first self-unloading cart and bankout to be ran on a commercial basis.

First Family Almonds

O.H. Flora planted the first block of almonds in our family in 1964 on Blue Gum Avenue. He raised a family on 20 acres of almonds.

Established Wise’s Meat Locker

W.B. Wise established Wise’s Meat Locker in 1948 to provide locker services to the local community. It is still in business today as Dave‘s Meats.

Established Blue Gum Ave. Dairy

Grandfather, W.B. Wise established the dairy here on Blue Gum Avenue in the Wood Colony area west of Modesto in the early ‘30s. An economical unit at the time was 20 cows and 20 acres.

Moved To Modesto

The Wise family was blown out during the Depression and the Dust Bowl. They moved to Modesto in the late ‘20s.

North Dakota Homestead

In 1898, Great Grandfather Mose Wise established a homestead in North Dakota just east of Minot. Our family still owns the original homestead.
